For a great value, check out The Share Hotels Rakuro in Kyoto, Japan. Newly opened in Summer 2018, the property is ideal for today’s savvy explorers. The hotel’s Tsunagu restaurant and café is one of the latest hip hangs in Kyoto, where in-the-know locals and guests can commune over popular menu options like fried chicken. Also, the café curates from local food artisans such as Nicotta & Mam doughnuts (a win in itself). Furthermore, communal spaces like the kitchen, library and rooftop offer more social benefits for guests.
Though the rooms may be a bit small for American standards, the spaces (roughly 200 to 500 square feet) provide basic comforts—Japanese-style bed, fridge, desk and modern bath (which is quite charming considering the smaller space).
But what you might miss in space, you make up for in reasonable rates (roughly $60 USD per night)—a solid trade-off for their on-the-go clientele who would much rather spend the bulk of their stay exploring the city anyway. Plus, the property encourages outings with bike rentals and biking guides.
